Chile-California Conference, C-cubed, or simply, C^3

Chile and California share similarities in terms of geography, natural resources, climate, and agriculture. Today, many Chilean graduate students and academics have spent time at Californian universities to collaborate on research, and take advantage of the state’s renowned excellence in higher education. Similarly, many Californians are involved in key projects and investments carried out in Chile.

Chile-California Conference, C-cubed, or simply, C3, is the first meeting of what we hope will become a long-term tradition aimed at contributing to the mutual development of both regions. We hope to encourage the exchange of knowledge, and the formation of new ways of cooperation between the academic, public and private spheres. Ultimately, we wish to engage in meaningful discussion and problem solving regarding the many current issues that affect both Chile and California.

How C3 works?

In this one day conference an estimated 100 people from Chile and Northern California will gather together at the Conference Center of UC Davis. C3 will focus on 3 areas of interest that have been recognized to be of importance for both Chile and California: sustainable development, education, and innovation & entrepreneurship. Two keynote speakers will address each topic during the morning seminars and, along with other experts in the field, will facilitate workshops in the afternoon. Each panel will generate and present a “C3 Statement”, or a summary of the key points discussed and direction for future exploration. All these activities will be compiled in the C3 booklet, which will include the program, summaries of the presentations, posters, and contact details of all attendees.

Why be involved?

We want to make C3 an absolutely memorable event that will inspire continued initiatives over the years. We are pleased that the conference will offer presentations by acclaimed keynote speakers from Chile and California. Additionally, by participating you will have the opportunity to meet and network with many young researchers dedicated to the fields of sustainable development, education, and innovation & entrepreneurship. You can also follow the latest C3 news at www.calculbo.org, and join our discussions through our online community on Facebook, and Twitter.
